Engineering Technician

Teledyne DGO is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support the Engineering team in the development, testing, assembly, and improvement of products and manufacturing processes. This hands-on role bridges the gap between engineering design and production by assisting with prototypes, conducting tests, preparing technical documentation, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and test prototypes, assemblies, and production equipment.

• Support engineers with product development, validation, and qualification activities.

• Conduct mechanical, electrical, optical, environmental, and functional testing as required.

• Collect, document, and analyze test data and prepare reports.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and work instructions.

• Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing and product-related issues.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, work instructions, and engineering records.

• Support implementation of process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.

• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Engineering teams.

• Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and test equipment safely and effectively.

• Assist with new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change implementation.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field preferred.

• Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, test, laboratory, or engineering support environment preferred.

• Experience with mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.

• Experience supporting engineering testing and data collection preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

• Proficiency using precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to accurately document technical information and test results.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with fiber optic, electromechanical, aerospace, defense, or marine products.

• Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering documentation control processes.

• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

• CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

• Repetitive use of hands for assembly and testing activities.

• Regular use of computer and laboratory/test equipment.
