Summary/Objectives
The SMT Supervisor oversees and manages Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production operations, including pick-and-place, soldering, inspection, testing, and related processes. This position ensures manufacturing efficiency, compliance with safety and quality standards, and the development of a cohesive and productive team. The SMT Supervisor plays a key role in meeting production schedules, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement in electronics manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Supervise daily SMT operations including pick-and-place (PnP), hand soldering, X-ray/AOI inspection, testing, parts preparation, potting, and burn-in.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company safety policies, SDS, and environmental procedures.
- Schedule and assign tasks to employees to efficiently achieve production targets.
- Establish and communicate daily build goals in coordination with the Production Manager and Planner.Â
- Monitor and report performance metrics through TAKT charts, travelers, and work order reports.
- Ensure production processes are executed in accordance with SOPs, ISO 9001, and IPC-A-610 standards.
- Oversee product quality, ensuring adherence to specifications and performing final quality checks.
- Manage staff attendance, time records, and performance management.
- Develop and conduct performance reviews, coaching employees for growth and continuous improvement.
- Recommend process and staffing adjustments to maintain production capacity.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of team members.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance and calibration programs for SMT equipment and tools.
- Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to minimize shortages and support efficient material flow.
- Participate in capital planning for SMT equipment and process improvements.
- Support cross-department collaboration to resolve quality issues and improve efficiency.

- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and electronics assembly standards.

Education and/or Experience
Required:Â
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience supervising in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years’ experience in electronics or SMT production.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and assembly drawings.
Preferred:
- A technical associate’s degree and/or equivalent SMT work experience.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing processes including SMT placement, soldering, and testing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and applications.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.Â
- Previous leadership experience in an SMT production environment.

Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.
- Ability to bend, twist, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in warm conditions and around noise.
- Must follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout and use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.).

Work Environment
- Electronics manufacturing environment with exposure to soldering fumes, chemicals, and machine noise.
- Use of PPE as required.
- Fast-paced production setting with frequent interaction across departments.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full-Time. Standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Overtime and schedule changes may be required to meet production demands.
 *500.00 Sign on bonus for new employees to Pelco Solutions after 90 days. Â
Travel
Minimal travel expected for training or supplier support.
