*Position SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer / CAD Designer will be responsible for creating new product designs,modifying existing products, improving designs, and developing detailed manufacturing drawingsusing Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have experiencewith mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and producing accurate engineeringdocumentation.

 

Compensation: $55,000–$65,000, depending on experience

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Design and develop new hand-held precision measurement tools and gaging systems.• Modify and improve existing product designs to enhance performance, manufacturability,and cost efficiency.• Design and support optical comparator systems and related accessories.• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventorand AutoCAD.• Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.• Work closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs can be efficiently produced.• Support prototype development, testing, and product validation.• Review customer requirements and develop custom solutions for specialized measurementapplications.• Assist with troubleshooting design and manufacturing issues.• Maintain engineering records, revision control, and drawing standards.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications• Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechanical EngineeringTechnology, Drafting, or work experience equivalent.• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and GD&T.• Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation.• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and precision measurement equipment is preferred.• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications• Experience designing precision instruments, tooling, fixtures, or custom gages.• Familiarity with optical systems, optical comparators, or metrology equipment.• Understanding CNC machining and manufacturing methods.• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
