Brian Cox Mechanical, Inc. (BCM), an industry leading HVAC contractor headquartered in Poway California, has an opening for a Sheetmetal Laborer.
Position Summary
The Sheetmetal Laborer supports HVAC installation and fabrication operations by assisting the Sheetmetal Journeyman and Sheetmetal Management with performing the removal, installation and start ā up of HVAC equipment in multi-family and commercial projects. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety, and the ability to follow instructions in construction and commercial jobsites.Ā
Ā Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Ā
- Assist with the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal ductwork and HVAC system components.Ā
- Install ductwork systems and related HVAC equipment in commercial, multi-family, and industrial facilities.Ā
- Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, combustion equipment, and industrial air compressors.Ā
- Load, unload, transport, and organize sheet metal materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.Ā
- Measure, cut, bend, and prepare sheet metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment under the direction of experienced sheet metal workers.Ā
- Seal, insulate, secure, and fasten ductwork in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and applicable building codes.Ā
- Assist with the layout, staging, and positioning of materials to ensure efficient installation and workflow.Ā
- Perform demolition, removal, and replacement of existing ductwork and HVAC components as required.Ā
- Operate equipment and tools safely while following all company policies and job site procedures.Ā
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas to promote a productive and hazard-free environment.Ā
- Conduct basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of tools, equipment, and work vehicles.Ā
- Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements at all times.Ā
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead sheet metal workers, and other trades to support project completion.Ā
- Assist with material inventory, storage, and job site housekeeping.Ā
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or lead sheet metal personnel.Ā
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Knowledge of commercial construction practices preferredĀ
- Knowledge of ductwork takeoff experience ideal
- Physical stamina and attention to detail throughout workday
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical aptitude skills
