Job Description

The Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (Chemistry) position will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Chemistry, is expected to contribute expertise to student advising and is also expected to seek and acquire external funding and contracts for relevant research projects, and participate in department, college, university, community and professional service activities.

The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate level Chemistry courses and perform activities related to teaching.

  • Develop research agenda and seek external funding to support scholarly work.

  • Provide student advisement, evaluation and counseling.

  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students and work with student organizations.

  • Serving department, college, and university committees.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Department Head.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or related fields.

  • Two years of postdoctoral research experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, written and technology skills.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrate ability for effective teaching and scholarship. 

  • Demonstrate support of professional organizations in the discipline and have potential for obtaining external funding.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry - Analytical Chemistry or Physical Chemistry.

  • Two years teaching experience at a college level.

  • Must be familiar with the ACS recent curriculum changes to advance professional development in chemistry as related to macromolecules.

  • Broad knowledge of computer skills and research tools in chemistry related work

  • Use of power point and other advancement in Instructional Enhancement to promote success in achieving learning outcome.

  • Good communication skills.
