Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Prattville Mill is currently seeking an Area Process Manager for the Woodyard Area.  This position reports to the Fiberline Superintendent and is responsible for delivering target results in the areas of safety, environmental, reliability, cost, productivity and employee engagement. 

 

The mill produces linerboard and currently employs approximately 600+ people.

 

The Area Process Manager will assist with managing the day-to-day operation of two woodyards.  They will provide leadership in a goals-oriented environment to deliver target results in the areas of safety, environmental, quality, productivity, employee engagement, and reliability excellence.  They will manage the performance and development of salaried and hourly members by setting clear expectations and standards of performance through effective one to ones.  Responsibilities will also include the direction of technical resources and process experts who support the area. 

 

The Area Process Manager will work closely with a variety of different leaders within the department and mill.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety, quality, Operational and Reliability results
  2. Lead the Woodyard to an injury free work environment through leadership by example and modeling safe behaviors. 
  3. Lead the safety processes for the area including safety work systems, safety observations, and operator safety training. 
  4. Personal attention to and direct involvement in maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, including Improvements in the housekeeping standards through the 5S process. 
  5. Develop tools and systems to maintain compliance with all applicable environmental permitting and ensure all environmental compliance systems are reliable and accurate
  6. Manage training processes in the woodyards in alignment with GMTI to ensure a pool of highly skilled team members
  7. Build effective systems and materials such as operating procedures (SOP), troubleshooting documents (TCC), and other training materials
  8. Support engagement processes to ensure the crews have ownership
  9. Complete technical process evaluations and improvements
  10. Seek out and implement best practices using teams, databases, vendors, and other technical resources
  11. Support the manufacturing work systems (MWS) process to prioritize and plan daily work, routine outages, and annual outages including operational, maintenance, and contractor tasks
  12. Be an active leader in identifying the capital needs, cost reduction initiatives and implementation to drive lower cost /ton
  13. Provide support for budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year over year savings
  14. Lead efforts and responsibility for daily production goals and quality specifications
  15. Provide Superintendent Coverage in his/her absence

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in the pulp and paper industry preferred. 
  2. Minimum of five (5) + years manufacturing experience. 
  3. Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  4. A demonstrated record of safety commitment and results.  
  5. Instill safety as a core value within the team and effectively communicate a shared vision for safety
  6. Quickly develop thorough knowledge of mill equipment and systems.
  7. Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with groups and individuals at all levels
  8. Utilize the International Paper Change Process to drive change
  9. Utilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
