First Community Bank of Central Alabama is a commercial bank that has been open since August 2001. We currently have offices in Wetumpka, Millbrook, Eclectic, Prattville, Tallassee, South Tallassee, West Prattville, Pine Level and Holtville. We also operate a Wealth Management Division and a full-service mortgage company, First Community Mortgage.

About the Role:

The Loan Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the loan processing team by managing and organizing loan documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for facilitating smooth communication between loan officers, clients, and underwriting departments to expedite loan approvals and closings. The Loan Assistant will handle data entry, verify borrower information, and maintain accurate records to support efficient loan processing. By providing administrative and operational support, the Loan Assistant helps improve customer satisfaction and contributes to the overall success of the lending process. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Proven experience in an administrative or assistant role, preferably within the financial or lending industry.
  • Basic understanding of loan processing and financial documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist loan officers by preparing and organizing loan files and documentation for submission and review.
  • Verify borrower information and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on loan status.
  • Coordinate with underwriting, appraisal, and title departments to ensure timely processing of loans.
  • Maintain accurate records of loan applications, approvals, and closings in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Perform data entry and update loan tracking systems to reflect current loan statuses.
  • Support the loan team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
