The Job You Will Perform:
The Prattville Mill is currently seeking an Mill Learning Leader. This position reports to the HR Manager and is responsible for the implementation, continuous evaluation and improvement of the employee training program at the Prattville Mill. The Mill Learning Leader ensures consistency of the training program and alignment with site goals and enterprise training standards. The Mill Learning Leader is also the primary contact/link for the Global Manufacturing Training Team and other IP location Learning Leaders.
As the champion/advocate for the training program, this role provides oversight for the mill training program and guidance to the Lead Team, Department Management and Department Learning Leaders. The Mill Learning Leader drives changes and improvements through systems and instills training as a core value.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a multi-year mill learning and capability strategy aligned with business objectives, operational excellence goals, and workforce succession needs.
Partner with mill leadership to identify critical skill gaps, future workforce requirements, and capability-building opportunities that improve operational performance and reliability.
Lead initiatives that strengthen frontline leadership, employee engagement, knowledge transfer, and career development across the mill.
Facilitate instructor-led training, workshops, and learning events that build technical, operational, and leadership competencies.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to capture operational best practices and convert them into sustainable learning solutions and qualification pathways.
Drive workforce readiness initiatives to support new equipment, technology implementation, organizational changes, and business growth objectives.
Champion a culture of continuous learning by integrating training with safety, reliability, quality, and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
Establish talent development frameworks that support succession planning, cross-training, and progression of critical mill roles.
Analyze workforce performance trends and operational metrics to identify learning interventions that improve employee capability and business results.
Serve as a strategic advisor to department leaders on workforce development, organizational capability, and learning effectiveness.
Lead and manage the mill-wide training and workforce development program, including budget, scorecards, and sustainable training systems.
Oversee New Hire Integration (NHI), employee qualification, certification, and performance development processes.
Partner with department leaders to identify training needs, prioritize initiatives, and ensure effective use of training resources.
Ensure compliance with training requirements, including MOCs, RCFAs, IRISs, FELs, and other operational change processes.
Leverage learning analytics and workforce performance data to evaluate training effectiveness, guide investment decisions, and improve organizational capability.
Develop, manage, and continuously improve training materials, eLearning content, learning activities, and instructor-led programs.
Lead the Mill Training Council and coordinate learning efforts across departments, mills, and enterprise training teams.
Conduct training audits and effectiveness assessments to identify gaps, remove barriers, and improve workforce capability and performance.
Ensure consistency, quality assurance, and ongoing maintenance of training content, processes, and documentation.
Support employee development through learning leaders, personal development plans, and multi-department learning initiatives.
Lead strategic learning and workforce development initiatives that support mill priorities, operational excellence, and long-term business objectives.
Serves as Prattville Mill’s subject matter expert the Learning Management System (LMS) and the Learning Content Management System (LCMS). Performs basic and complex functions in the system; including data entry, reporting, and creation and production of e-course material.
Support the HR Team for Weekend Duty

Qualifications:
Required- Bachelor’s Degree (Prefer Engineering or related field or Human Resources Training).
1 to 3 years Human Resources and/or Training experience or equivalent professional training (Degree or Technical Certificate).
Preferred: Direct experience supporting, training, coaching, or leading employees in a heavy manufacturing or mill operations environment
Proficient in training systems and business applications, including LMS, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.
- Prefer experience working with a Training or Learning Content Management System
- Utilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with groups and individuals at all levels
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, training needs analysis, assessment development, and effective training design and delivery practices.
- Understanding of mill operations, organizational structure, and the impact of training on business performance.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Excellence processes, tools, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Skilled in meeting facilitation, collaboration, and situational leadership techniques.
- Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve training programs, learning content, and employee development initiatives.
