The Job You Will Perform: 

The Power & Chemical Technical Assistant will be an assistant to the Area Managers.  This position will act as a resource for all facets of day-to-day operations in the Power department, while designing systems to build long-term stability and reliability.  The P&C Department Technical Assistant will be heavily involved in a broad spectrum of areas such as Operations, Maintenance, Technical, and People.  They must help manage the safety, environmental, people, operations, and reliability performance of the department which includes two Black Liquor Recovery boilers, Two Bark & Natural gas power boilers, two steam turbines, two lime kilns, and three sets of black liquor evaporators. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • All safety and environmental results for the Power & Chemical Department.

  • Building, communicating, and executing consistent operating practices across all shifts

  • Developing and maintaining Operator engagement through communication, empowerment, and training.

  • Investigating, resolving, and implementing process improvements.

  • Interfacing with other departments to ensure quality parameters are achieved and maintained.

  • Serving as operational support for capital needs, including the development of FEL1 level of the Project Development Process (PDP).

  • Providing support on project management and/or outage management during weekly/annual outages.

  • Filling in as a Department Area Manager when needed.

 

The Skills You Will Bring: 

  • The successful candidate will have 3-7 years of Pulp and Paper Industry experience with a demonstrated record of safety commitment and results. 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills is critical and they must have the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels. 

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
