What You Will Do
- Provide technical advice and guidance for assigned electrical engineering projects. Â
- Assist Senior Engineer in developing Electrical Engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment.Â
- Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projectsÂ
- Manage small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects, and assists the Senior Engineer on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion or modificationsÂ
- Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentÂ
- Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignmentÂ
- Assist the Senior Engineer in contributing to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areasÂ
- Develop and evaluate AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requestsÂ
- May represent the site on company sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teamsÂ
- Perform other duties as requiredÂ
What You Bring To Freeport
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, ORÂ
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in EngineeringÂ
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Electrical Engineering with an understanding of Mechanical and Process Engineering techniquesÂ
- Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusionsÂ
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautionsÂ
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazardsÂ
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingÂ
- Familiarity and some experience in Electronics, PLCs, and Control SystemsÂ
- Skill in managing small to medium Engineering projectsÂ
- Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvementÂ
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) CertificationÂ
- Experience with or classes related to Power Systems EngineeringÂ
- Experience with Power System Modeling software such as SKM, eTAP, etc.Â
- Familiarity with industrial AC and DC motors, VFD’s and plant instrumentationÂ
- Familiarity with powerline layout, engineering and constructionÂ
- Familiarity with MV power systemsÂ
- Leadership and construction / mining experienceÂ
- Knowledge and understanding of NEC & NFPA70E RegulationsÂ
- Familiarity with designing Power, Instrumentation and Controls SystemsÂ
- Experience with ETAP and AutoCAD or similar software for designÂ
- Self-motivated with excellent work ethicÂ
- Proficiency in MS OfficeÂ
- Understanding of project life cycle
- Experience in reading electrical drawing and P&Id
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000-$127,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
