JOB TITLE:                     CUSTOMER COORDINATOR I

LOCATION:                     PRESQUE ISLE or HAMPDEN

REPORTS TO:                 SUPERVISOR, SCHEDULING & CUSTOMER COORDINATION

POSITION STATUS:       NON-EXEMPT, NON-BARGAINING UNIT

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Scheduling and Customer Coordination, the incumbent is responsible for the management of customer-initiated transmission and distribution construction projects requiring distribution planning support. This position will assist in gathering, checking, relaying and tracking information necessary for transmission and distribution construction projects. The chosen candidate will also work proactively with customers and internal departments to ensure efficient, high-quality results. 

This position requires knowledge of Versant Power’s internal processes and standard contracts in compliance with Maine Public Utilities Commission Chapter 395.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Establish a relationship as the main point of contact with customers, contractors, electricians and other outside parties, to act as the liaison between the external party and all internal departments with regard to the customer job.
  •  Manage new construction customer jobs including establishing projects in job tracking, contacting customers to scope out projects, creating any necessary contracts required for the customer job, tracking all job requirements, interfacing with several departments within the company to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner, and transferring to the line department immediately upon receipt of all necessary requirements to ensure the customer receives the most timely activation of service. 
  • Perform follow up work with customers including providing estimates, providing quotations, contracts, tracking receivables, project accounting, general job tracking, contract adjustments, reallocation calculations, refund calculations, and billing.
  • Consistently monitor the service order queue in CIS throughout the day and assign ownership of them to Central Dispatch, Planners, or Customer Coordinators.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of the Company’s line extension policies, MPUC Chapter 395 and Versant Power Construction Standards.
  • Will provide back-up to the Joint Line Coordinator and DG Coordinator, as needed, managing company jobs and customer DG jobs.  
  • Responsible for closing out all customer jobs, including ensuring that GIS and CIS are updated appropriately, that meters are installed in a timely manner to ensure accurate billing, and communicating with accounting regarding project funds, as well as ensuring customers are refunded for any over payment. 
  • Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business concentration preferred.  Acceptable work experience may be considered.  
  • Ability to use computer and internet applications including Word, Excel, and other internal company application required.
  • Customer service or customer relations experience beneficial.

  • Position is primarily sedentary, with some walking and driving required.

RATE OF PAY: 

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
