Job DetailsJob Location: Northern Maine - Presque Isle, ME 04769Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeTITLE:            Accountant II                        BARGAINING UNIT/SALARY RANGE: MSEA Support Services Unit, Pending Classification Expected Pay Range $22.44-$26.54 per hour  RESPONSIBILITIES:    The Accountant II is responsible for managing student and third-party billing, accounts receivable while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of student financial records. This position oversees charge generation, student billing, cash receipting, daily bank deposits, student account reconciliations, account adjustments, and the preparation of student refunds and stipend payments. Working under general supervision, the Accountant II applies advanced accounting principles to analyze and reconcile student accounts, interpret college policies and procedures, identify and resolve discrepancies, and provide recommendations to the Accountant III and Director of Finance and Facilities to support accurate financial reporting and exceptional customer service.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, and 2 years of professional management of accounts receivable and billing experience required. Related professional work experience may be substituted for education.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial procedures, and internal controls, with the ability to apply sound judgment in maintaining accurate financial records. Proficiency in automated accounting systems and the ability to prepare, analyze, and reconcile financial data while identifying and resolving discrepancies. Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and adapt to frequent interruptions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to build positive working relationships while providing outstanding customer service.
