• Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Physician

• Coverage Period: November 2026 – Ongoing
• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, No Call
COVERAGE DATES
• Start Date: November 2026 or ASAP
• Contract Length: 12 months preferred
• Schedule Preference: 3 days per week preferred
• Flexible Scheduling Available: Client willing to consider 2 providers alternating 1–2 week rotations
PATIENT INFORMATION
• Patient Demographics: Adult Patients
• Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 15 patients per day
• Case Mix: Approximately 60% Hematology and 40% Oncology/Solid Tumors
• New vs Follow-Up Ratio: Approximately 20% new patients and 80% follow-up visits
• High-Acuity Cases: Acute leukemia and other high-acuity cases typically referred to tertiary care centers

• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
• Practice Setting: Outpatient Oncology Clinic / Private Practice
• EMR System: Meditech
• Support Staff Available:
• One APP onsite daily
• Dedicated oncology-trained infusion RNs
• Additional physician support from 3 physicians located in Hazard
• Specialty Backup Available: Oncology and Hematology support within health system
• Reason for Coverage: Retirement of current physician

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
• Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Hematology and Oncology patient evaluations and management
• Outpatient oncology clinic coverage
• Infusion supervision within standard oncology practice guidelines
• Participation in tumor board discussions
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Board Certification: Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, or Medical Oncology Required
• Licenses: Willing to license qualified providers
• DEA: Required
• Experience: Recent patient-facing Hematology/Oncology experience required
• Other Qualifications: Comfortable practicing independently in a lower-volume outpatient setting
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care for scheduled clinic patients
• Diagnose and manage hematologic and oncologic conditions
• Supervise infusion services in collaboration with oncology nursing staff
• Collaborate with APPs assisting with follow-up and supportive care visits
• Review and complete clinical documentation and orders within Meditech EMR
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board discussions
• Coordinate patient care with support staff and collaborating physicians as needed
