We are currently seeking a motivated Assistant Builder to support residential construction operations in Panama City and DeFuniak Springs, Florida.

Position Overview

The Assistant Builder works alongside experienced Builders and construction leadership to support the day-to-day construction of new homes. This position assists with job-site coordination, quality control, construction scheduling, trade contractor communication, inspections, material deliveries, and preparation for homeowner closings.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has foundational construction knowledge and wants to continue developing the skills needed to manage the complete homebuilding process.

The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Builders with the daily management of residential construction activities
  • Walk homes and job sites to monitor progress, workmanship, cleanliness, and safety
  • Help coordinate trade contractors, suppliers, inspections, and material deliveries
  • Follow up with trade contractors regarding scheduled work and outstanding items
  • Assist with maintaining and updating construction schedules
  • Confirm that work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, and company quality standards
  • Identify potential construction, quality, or scheduling concerns and report them to the Builder
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
  • Assist with scheduling and preparing homes for municipal inspections
  • Receive, inspect, and verify material deliveries
  • Help track construction progress and completion of outstanding items
  • Assist with quality-control inspections throughout the construction process
  • Coordinate corrections and punch-list items with trade contractors
  • Help prepare homes for pre-closing walk-throughs and homeowner closings
  • Communicate professionally with trade partners, suppliers, employees, and customers
  • Learn Valor Communities’ construction processes, standards, and scheduling systems
  • Provide additional field support as assigned by construction leadership

Qualifications

  • Previous residential construction, homebuilding, trade, warranty, inspection, or related field experience is preferred
  • A degree or coursework in construction management, building science, engineering, or a related field may be considered in place of some field experience
  • Basic understanding of residential construction processes and terminology
  • Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
  • Willingness to learn and accept coaching from experienced construction leaders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to communicate professionally with trade contractors, suppliers, coworkers, and homeowners
  • Commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and professional job sites
  • Ability to travel between assigned communities and job sites as needed
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
