We are seeking a full time Hygiene Assistant to join our growing, privately owned, group practice. As a Hygiene Assistant at Commonwealth Dentistry, you will have the opportunity to work with a staff that goes above and beyond to support each other and deliver an unsurpassed dental experience for our patients.

The Hygiene Assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the hygienist during a variety of treatment procedures
  • Greeting and seating patients
  • Customizing room setups based on the type of cleanings being done
  • Reviewing medical histories and taking blood pressure
  • Taking necessary x-rays, polishing teeth and applying fluoride
  • Recording periodontal and restorative charting with the hygienist
  • Putting in chart notes, treatment plans and scheduling recare appointments
  • Performing weekly maintenance
  • Supporting other teams within the office(front desk, doctors’ clinical team)
  • Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
  • Completes instrument cleaning & sterilization and post-op sanitization of treatment rooms
  • Prepares dental materials and equipment as needed for the scheduled treatment
  • Other duties may be assigned
  • CPR certified, or will become CPR certified within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to professionally present clinical information regarding treatment plans and insurance information to patients
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Ability to demonstrate a teamwork approach to job responsibilities
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, dependability and promptness
  • Must perform frequent repetitive work with attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and takes responsibility for own actions
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality with patients and patient care
  • Must listen attentively for clarification to ensure necessary outcomes
