Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) – Mobile Crisis

Position Summary

The PRSS – Crisis provides recovery-oriented peer support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. Using lived experience, this role supports stabilization, engagement in services, and connection to community resources while working alongside the crisis team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support during crises
  • Assist with coping strategies and recovery planning
  • Support engagement in services and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with crisis team while maintaining peer role
  • Assist with transitions between levels of care
  • Connect individuals to community resources
  • Complete documentation in EHR
  • Maintain professional boundaries and follow agency policies

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have lived experience in recovery (mental health and/or substance use)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to work flexible/non-traditional hours

Preferred

  • Experience in behavioral health or crisis settings
  • Knowledge of recovery and community resources

Certification Requirements

  • Peer Certification required or obtained within 6 months (WVCBAPP recognized)
  • Must maintain certification and obtain NPI
  • Adherence to WVCBAPP and SHCMHC Code of Ethics
