The State is accepting online applications for available Seasonal Water Monitoring Field Intern positions.
Illustrative Examples of Work Performed
A Seasonal Water Monitoring Field intern assists in water quality monitoring and ecological field surveys in surface waters by calibrating sampling equipment, obtaining field samples, and delivering samples to the analytical laboratory; making and recording field measurements and observations; assists in field assessment of freshwater wetlands and marina pump out facilities; assist in compiling and entering environmental monitoring data into electronic databases; and other duties as required.
Required Qualifications for Appointment
Eligible candidates must have swimming experience, be at least 18 years of age, and have a high school degree/GED.
Experience with canoeing, kayaking or light watercraft is desirable.

Also, be advised thatĀ a new provision in RI General Law 35-6-1 was enacted requiring direct deposit for all employees. Specific to new hires, the law requires that all employees hired after September 30, 2014 participate in direct deposit. Accordingly, any employee hired after this date will be required to participate in the direct deposit system.
