Gilbane is seeking a Community Impact & Engagement Director to be responsible for the development of strategies and initiatives that support meeting/exceeding community impact, community objectives, and enhance Gilbane’s public image and market position.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in industry-related activities and events representing the enterprise; identifies opportunities to present content, training, and speaking at relevant engagements 
  • Serves as Gilbane’s liaison to national industry associations that support targeted constituencies, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups to facilitate the participation of their members on construction projects or in special programs 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with Gilbane’s national strategic partners through regular engagement and interactions 
  • Participates in the presale, proposal development, and client presentations for major corporate clients, national accounts, and strategic pursuits 
  • Develops strategies that facilitate effective outreach to business partners and key stakeholders in the execution of Gilbane’s construction projects 
  • Advocates and provides a supportive infrastructure for diverse-owned and small businesses 
  • Ensures tracking and reporting of small and diverse businesses and trade workforce is reported to Gilbane's Executive Leadership Team and the Enterprise 
  • Collaborates with divisional leadership to ensure community impact and engagement strategies are implemented with sales, procurement, and operations teams to maximize representation of targeted business and workforce on Gilbane’s construction projects 
  • Develops strategies to ensure adherence with client priorities, state and local workforce obligations, and any other requirements for construction projects as it relates to community impact and trade workforce 
  • Serves as the leader of Gilbane’s national community impact & community affairs peer group 
  • Promotes employee awareness of Gilbane’s external impact plan that includes trade partner and local workforce utilization 
  • Partners with Human Resources to advise company leadership on relevant policy and issues regarding diverse-owned and small businesses in the construction industry 
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive business plan and department budget on a fiscal year basis 
  • Ensure that teams are in adherence with Community Impact requirements in the Baseline Operations Playbook 
  • Responsible for the career development and coaching of employees through a team of managers 
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members 
  • Drives the long-term strategic vision for the organization, serving as a bridge between Executive leadership and operational teams and ensuring alignment of departmental goals with the overarching vision 
  • Provides strategic insights and recommendations to executive leadership for informed decision-making 

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, Public Relations, Communications or a related field 
  • 10+ years of experience in community impact/supplier diversity management, consulting, or community relations 
  • Relevant Certifications such as: American Contract Compliance Association (ACCA) – CCA or MCA (Contract Compliance Administrator or Master Compliance Administrator); or National Diversity Council (NDC) – NDCCDP (National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional) 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Passion for diversity and impact advocacy 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced Excel abilities & use of spreadsheets and database systems preferred 
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills 
  • Strong knowledge of the Construction industry 
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and fact-finding abilities 
  • Strong project management and communication skills, both written and verbal including presentation skills 
  • Familiarity with business enterprise and/or workforce compliance platforms 
  • Ability to solely lead and drive community impact efforts and direct next steps

 

This position can be performed remotely or from any U.S. location where Gilbane has an office. Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.

The pay ranges from $185,000 - 250,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
