Description

Title: Maintenance Painter

Reports to: Facilities Director

Purpose: Responsible for general painting and providing a safe and clean work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advocates for the mission of the organization and upholds the agency's values.
  • Prepare surfaces, mix paints for different needs, and apply them with brushes or rollers to fill cracks or apply color on walls, ceilings and other objects around facilities.
  • Prepare walls and other structures for painting by scraping, sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
  • Repair damaged surfaces, holes, and cracks. (Compound)
  • Exam surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary to fulfill assignments.
  • Perform routine painting maintenance.
  • Complete work orders as assigned.
  • Timely completion of unit turnovers and common area painting.
  • Provide superior customer service.

Requirements


Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Apprenticeship, technical or building trade education helpful.
  • Proven experience as a painter.
  • One year or more of painting experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them.
  • Solid knowledge of residential and/or commercial painting techniques.
  • Well organized, able to prioritize own work and maintain material inventory.
  • Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
  • Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders etc.
  • Conscientious with great attention to detail.
  • Quick learner interested in expanding knowledge and experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team builder- inspires and motivates others to perform their best.
  • Can work effectively independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Commitment to Task-is tenacious, can achieve results in an environment where priorities change quickly.
  • Must complete ladder safety training.
  • Must have valid drivers license.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, etc.
  • Ability to work in an environment in which the job is performed, such as working in hot, cold, dusty, etc. conditions.
