Position Summary


Looking to start or grow your career in early childhood education? The YMCA Mt Hope Childcare Center is hiring a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a high-quality early learning classroom serving infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.

 

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children, values teamwork, and wants hands-on experience in a licensed early childhood program. Schedule varies M-F between the hours of 8:15am and 5:30pm. 

 

Position Summary

The Teaching Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This role plays a key part in supporting children’s development through hands-on learning, positive relationships, and consistent care.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Support lesson planning for both indoor and outdoor activities
  • Help conduct child observations and assessments
  • Maintain classroom environment aligned with ITERS/ECERS standards
  • Follow DCYF licensing regulations and BrightStars standards
  • Conduct daily health checks and maintain documentation
  • Track attendance and meal counts
  • Support daily routines and transitions
  • Communicate with families through daily or weekly updates
  • Ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings

Qualifications

  • 18+ years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Interest in early childhood education or childcare
  • Ability to work as part of a team
