Job Title: Bakery Chef de Partie - Cougartail Production

Job Summary:

This position oversees the production and icing of Cougartail Donuts, supervising and mentoring students to ensure quality, consistency, sanitation, and proper food handling. The role also helps manage production scheduling and inventory using a computerized system, verifies product quality and quantities, organizes and prepares orders for delivery, and maintains flexibility to cover varying shifts and additional hours as needed.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Produce Cougartail Donuts for Campus Dining Operations. This includes helping to prepare, organize, and deliver orders.
  • Utilize a computerized inventory/ordering system to establish production schedules. This includes tracking inventory levels and verifying product quality.
  • Clean and sanitize baking equipment, production areas, etc.
  • Mentor and supervise student employees. This includes instructing them on proper production/preparation methods.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • A firm commitment to the Mission of BYU
  • Past food service/bakery experience is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years full-time equivalent bakery production experience or a culinary certification/degree from an accredited culinary school or an equivalent combination of education/experience

A physical exam and lift test will be conducted as a part of the hiring process for this position.

Physical Effort

  • Moderate – Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.

Environment

  • Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments, etc. (Elaborate below)Ā 

Hazards

  • Moderate existing or potential hazards (Elaborate below)

Typical Physical Efforts, Environmental Factors, and Hazards

  • Organize product inventory in freezers (coats provided) -- 30 min, daily
  • Lift up to 50lbs of product -- 5 min, multiple times daily

Typical Starting Pay:Ā Ā 

$25.25 to $32.75 per hour ($52,500 to $68,000 per year)

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.Ā
