Job Summary

We are seeking a Human Health & Consumer Safety to evaluate and support the safety of foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and their ingredients intended for human consumption or topical use. This role is responsible for conducting toxicological risk assessments, reviewing scientific data, and ensuring products comply with applicable regulatory and safety standards. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in human health toxicology, regulatory frameworks, and scientific literature evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct toxicological risk assessments for foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and individual ingredients intended for human use
  • Review and interpret toxicology, pharmacokinetic, and safety data from scientific literature, study reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Assess exposure, dose-response, margins of safety, and overall human health risk
  • Evaluate ingredient safety for oral, dermal, and other relevant routes of exposure
  • Prepare written safety assessments, summaries, and expert opinions suitable for regulatory, quality, and internal review
  • Support regulatory compliance with applicable frameworks (e.g., FDA, GRAS, dietary supplement regulations, cosmetic safety requirements, international standards as applicable)
  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs, product development, quality, and legal teams to support product safety decisions
  • Identify data gaps and recommend additional testing or alternative approaches when needed
  • Stay current with emerging toxicology research, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Toxicology or a closely related field (PhD, MS, or equivalent required)
  • Formal training in human health toxicology
  • Experience evaluating the safety of foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, or consumer product ingredients
  • 7+ Years of experience
  • Strong understanding of toxicological principles, including hazard identification, exposure assessment, and risk characterization
  • Ability to critically evaluate scientific studies and regulatory guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FDA-regulated products (foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics)
  • Familiarity with GRAS determinations, New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notifications, cosmetic safety substantiation, or similar assessments
  • Experience preparing safety narratives for regulatory submissions or expert reports
  • Knowledge of international regulatory standards (e.g., EFSA, SCCS, WHO)
  • Professional certification (e.g., DABT)
