External Relations Manager (part-time, 28 hours/week)
The External Relations Manager implements the College of Life Sciences’ external engagement strategy, with a primary focus on strengthening relationships with alumni and donors. This role leads the development of high-impact communications, donor-facing materials, and signature engagement experiences that advance college priorities and deepen connections with alumni and donors.

What you’ll do in this position:
Direct the design, production, and distribution of the college’s external relations content
- Oversee development and production of major publications, donor reports, and impact reports
- Ensure messaging reflects college priorities
- Align communications with fundraising priorities
- Manage the college’s brand as it relates to external audiences, ensuring consistency in voice, visual identity, and messaging
- Oversee and provide direction for graphic design supporting college communications
- Maintain brand identity through strategic messaging, content development, and design
Direct donor and alumni engagement initiatives
- Develop and manage a portfolio of events, including Grad Bash, tailgates, donor luncheons, and alumni gatherings
- Enhance donor experience and stewardship efforts
- Oversee communication, implementation, and evaluation to ensure high-quality, mission-driven experiences
Manage brand, design, and editorial standards for all college material
- Maintain and enforce editorial standards and brand consistency across all materials
- Oversee visual identity standards and ensure consistent application across print and digital collateral
- Provide editing, content guidance, and design mentoring for all external relations content produced by the student team
Collaborate with college communication teams and departments
- Work closely with the college communications team to coordinate messaging and engagement strategies
- Represent the college in cross-campus initiatives related to alumni and donor relations
- Coordinate with departments in developing alumni outreach programs
- Work with student college ambassadors who will present during donor visit
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Communications
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.Â
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, design, or related field, and two years combined writing and design experience OR 5 years combined design and writing experience
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling ability
- Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities
- High-attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Preferred
- Experience managing a team
- Project management experience

Pay Grade: 52
Typical Starting Pay: $31.25Â to $40.50 an hour
