Brooks Range Supply, a Colville company, is looking for a motivated and dependable General Store Associate to support our general store and coffee shop operations in Prudhoe Bay.

This is not your typical cashier position. This is a hands-on, team-driven role that keeps our store fully stocked, clean, organized, and running smoothly during extended operational hours. If you take pride in ownership, accountability, and delivering consistent customer service; even in a fast-paced, remote environment, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The General Store Associate supports daily operations of the Brooks Range Supply general store and coffee shop. This role ensures:

  • Consistent, professional customer service
  • Full operational coverage during extended hours
  • Cleanliness and presentation standards at all times
  • Proper stocking and merchandising
  • Strong shift-to-shift communication and accountability

This position is cross-trained and structured to maintain uninterrupted store coverage without pulling support from other departments. Flexibility, initiative, and teamwork are essential.

Schedule & Work Environment

Store Hours: 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
 Evening associate remains until 9:00 PM for closing procedures and stocking.

Typical shifts may include:

  • 5:00 AM – 6:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
  • 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM (1-hour lunch + 1-hour dinner)
  • Split shifts as business demands

Team members cover one another’s breaks and lunches to ensure continuous service. Cross training may include Post Office operations for emergency coverage.

This role is based in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, working a rotational North Slope schedule.

Coffee Shop Responsibilities

When the coffee shop is active, one associate per shift serves as the primary coffee lead.

All General Store Associates are trained to:

  • Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages
  • Operate and maintain coffee equipment
  • Maintain coffee station cleanliness and presentation
  • Monitor and manage coffee inventory

During slower coffee traffic, associates transition seamlessly into general store duties.

Tips are welcomed; tip structure is subject to change.

Core Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers professionally and efficiently
  • Operate the register accurately
  • Handle transactions and customer inquiries
  • Maintain a welcoming, organized sales floor

Store Operations

  • Stock shelves and beverage coolers
  • Maintain proper merchandising and product placement
  • Assist with seasonal resets and new product placement
  • Organize and manage backstock
  • Assist with store improvement projects (resets, painting, reorganization)
  • Check in freight as needed
  • Maintain front-facing presentation throughout each shift

Cleaning & Facility Standards

Daily (Opening & Closing Checklists):

  • Coffee station sanitation
  • Trash removal
  • Floor upkeep
  • Register area organization
  • Restocking high-volume items
  • End-of-day recovery

Weekly Responsibilities:

  • Sweep staircases (minimum once per week)
  • Deep clean and organize assigned areas
  • Restroom cleaning twice weekly (shared rotation)

Accountability & Team Expectations

This role requires strong communication and ownership.

  • Evening associates prepare the store for morning success.
  • Morning associates maintain standards and support evening transition.
  • Clear communication is expected when tasks cannot be completed.

Downtime is used productively for stocking, organizing, and improvement projects. This is an active role where initiative matters.

  • Previous retail, customer service, or food service experience preferred

  • Ability to work rotational schedules in Prudhoe Bay
