JOB OVERVIEW:Â Â
The Director of Golf leads the overall financial, operational, and community management of the Pryor Creek Golf Club, ensuring it serves as a fiscally responsible and accessible public recreational asset. Reporting to city leadership, this role oversees daily pro shop operations, tournament programming, staff management, and budget management to maximize revenue and golfer satisfaction. Additionally, the Director collaborates closely with grounds maintenance and leads local player development programs, with an emphasis on youth and community engagement.Â
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere to all of the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies and procedures, manuals, memos, oral instruction, etc., all of which go to make up the essential functions of the job.
- Display a positive attitude and motivate all employees to succeed.
- The Director of Golf is an ex-officio member of the Golf Trust.
- Approves all work schedules and assigns duties.
- Orders merchandise and prepares all purchase orders, invoices and payment vouchers.
- Formulates pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of store operations.
- Coordinates sales promotion activities and prepares, or directs employees in preparing merchandise displays.
- Supervises employees engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for Accountant, or performs work of subordinates, as needed.
- Answers customer complaints or inquiries.
- Ensure all Policies and Procedures are followed.
- Teaches the game of golf to all players, individuals or clinics.
- Organizes and conducts all golf tournaments.
- Play golf with club members, guests and employees.
- Advises Men’s and Ladies Golf Association and promotes golf tournament participation.
- Prepares a golf shop budget.
- Oversees all areas of the golf operation.
- Attends all required City meetings.
- Enforces PCGC rules and acts as a Marshal of the course at all times
- Oversees all Media,Social media and Press of the PCGC.
- Other duties as assigned by Mayor or Director of Parks and Recreation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
The Golf Director supervises all Golf Professionals, Grounds Crew, Cart Personnel, Starters/Marshals, Golf Shop Clerks, and Golf Cart Mechanics.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, client’s customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Basic accounting and merchandising math are very helpful in this position.
REASONING ABILITYÂ
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Â
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSÂ
This position required the professionals to be PGA qualifiable (i.e. PGA Apprentice/PGA Member). Thereby having the proper knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this job. These include teaching and playing abilities, business skills (merchandise and record keeping), and golf cart knowledge (maintenance & supervision), etc. All Pesticide, Herbicide, Agronomic and Irrigation certifications.

This individual must be able to play golf. Play is usually with members and guests.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Appearance and good personal hygiene are a must. Setting a standard for all golfers and employees.
