Role Overview:Â The Sheetmetal Material Handler is responsible for stocking, transporting, organizing, and delivering materials and parts throughout the production floor to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures raw materials, sheet metal components, and production supplies are accurately handled, stocked, labeled, and delivered according to production schedules while maintaining safety, organization, and inventory accuracy.

1. Safety & Housekeeping
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
 • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and responsibly
 • Perform daily forklift inspections and report equipment concerns as needed
 • Empty scrap buckets and remove trash dumpsters as required
 • Smash Yaffe roll-offs as directed
 • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas
2. Material Handling & Inventory Support
• Stock and deliver materials and sheet metal parts to production areas according to schedules
• Put away sheet metal parts and maintain organization of stock materials
 • Use sheet metal maps to locate stock parts and materials
 • Distinguish between different gauges and types of materials
 • Label raw materials accurately and maintain material identification standards
 • Keep raw materials stocked in storage racks and production areas
 • Offload raw materials from wooden skids to metal skids as needed
 • Stack sheet metal pallets and prepare pallets for vendor return
 • Keep press brakes stocked with empty pallets
3. IFS & Documentation
• Move parts in IFS using Red Time transactions to maintain accurate inventory and production records
 • Accurately charge time in the time and attendance system to ensure proper labor distribution and payroll accuracy
4. Quality & Productivity
• Follow manufacturing instructions and complete assignments accurately and on time
 • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and efficiency
 • Ensure materials are delivered accurately to support production schedules and workflow
5. Teamwork & Collaboration
• Contribute to team efforts by working cooperatively with coworkers and supporting related functions as needed
 • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material needs or inventory concerns
6. Administrative & Compliance
• Comply with all government regulations, laws, company policies, and procedures
 • Maintain regular attendance and work overtime as required to meet production demands
7. Additional Duties
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor as needed
 • Care for tools and equipment; notify maintenance of equipment issues or malfunctions
Desired Qualifications
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred to support continued growth and advancement within the company
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and leadership
Skills & Abilities
• Effective communication and strong listening skills
 • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and inventory documentation
 • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch
 • Ability to operate and monitor material handling equipment safely and effectively
 • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
 • Ability to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement or corrective action
 • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and maintain positive working relationships
Certificates, Licenses, or Training
• On-the-job training provided
 • Forklift certification required
 • Propane certification preferred
Interaction with Others:Â Reports to the Director of Manufacturing Operations. Must be able to accurately receive, understand, and follow instructions from supervisors and leads. This role requires effective collaboration with coworkers and a cooperative, team-oriented approach. The employee must maintain positive working relationships, communicate effectively, and be willing to ask questions and assist others as needed to support departmental and organizational success.
