Job Summary/Purpose:Â
The Community Navigator supports the mission of Servicios de La Raza by providing operational leadership in public-facing areas and promoting access to agency services. This role exercises independent judgment in assessing community members’ needs, coordinating resources, and implementing outreach initiatives. The Community Navigator also oversees front desk operations, conference room access, and building security procedures, while representing the organization at community events and cultivating strategic partnerships with external service providers.Â
Job Duties and Key Responsibilities: Â
Facilitate screenings and identify individualized needs of community members, exercising discretion in making referrals and warm hand-offs to other service staffÂ
Engage in de-escalation and crisis interventions as needed, applying independent judgment in response strategiesÂ
Provide psychoeducation regarding issues relevant to health and human servicesÂ
Participate in targeted community outreach and events across diverse settingsÂ
Provide internal and external resources and referrals to support client access and service coordinationÂ
Complete all necessary client and department documentation according to SDLR standardsÂ
Maintain confidentiality of all client protected health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelinesÂ
Organize, enter, and maintain client data in designated tracking systemsÂ
Oversee front desk operations, including answering phone calls, greeting community members, and providing information regarding agency servicesÂ
Ensure front desk, lobby, and storage areas are orderly, stocked, and equipped with updated outreach materials and client resourcesÂ
Schedule and facilitate access to conference room areas as neededÂ
Distribute mail and notify staff of package deliveriesÂ
Monitor and enforce building security protocolsÂ
Engage with external community-serving organizations and establish new partnershipsÂ
Exercise independent judgment and discretion in decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing tasksÂ
All members of the SDLR workforce are expected to support the agency’s community outreach, civic engagement, and recruitment effortsÂ
Support the agency’s fundraising objectives, which may include tasks such as active fundraising, grant development, solicitation of donations, agency ambassadorship, and informational outreach, and public speakingÂ
Commitment to and experience with equity, cultural relevance, diversity, social justice, and disparity reduction practices with persons of color, agencies of color, and underserved communitiesÂ
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, agency partners, and the publicÂ

Required Education, experience and Credentialing:Â
High School Diploma or equivalentÂ
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Preferred Education, experience and Credentialing:Â
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, social work, or other related field Â
Two years' experience in the human services field preferred. Â Â

Working Environment and Physical RequirementsÂ
Must be able to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull boxes, cases of food, and pantry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to safely move and organize food items from deliveries to storage areas.
Must be able to work in refrigerated or freezer storage areas as needed.
Must be able to safely use carts, dollies, and other equipment used to move pantry supplies.
Ability to perform physical duties safely and in accordance with established procedures.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipmentÂ
Occasionally may need to reach, stoop or kneelÂ
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer workÂ
