Job Description

 

The City of Pueblo is looking for qualified candidates to apply to our Wastewater Treatment Plant Laboratory Supervisor position.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the laboratory,  performing lab tests for compliance and environmental research, generating reports for compliance, and providing consultation and advice regarding sampling and analyses to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. As the WWTP Lab Supervisor, you’ll also assign and schedule duties of analysts, provide staff training, maintain a working knowledge of chemical and bacteriological examinations of water and the federal Clean Water Act, and maintain effective communication between the laboratory staff and Operations Division. Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in chemistry, microbiology, biology, medical technology, or related fields in the natural sciences
  • At least three years of experience working in a laboratory, at least two of which include supervisory experience or as a lead worker in responsible charge of projects, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and personnel
  • A valid driver’s license at the time of application, and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of employment
    • License restrictions that may hinder your ability to drive on City business, such as an interlock, will be cause for disqualification 
    • During the course of employment, a valid license must be maintained, and the employee must notify the City immediately upon changes to the status of their license


In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications at the time of application, within one (1) year of appointment the employee must:

  • Obtain a State of Colorado Wastewater Facility Operator Class “D” Certification
