We are looking for a dependable professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, values safety, and thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment. Job Responsibilities As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles to the manufacturer and dealership standards. Key responsibilities include: Inspecting and testing vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation Performing routine maintenance including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, wheel balancing, and filter replacements Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions Repairing engine failures and replacing parts and components as needed Conducting test drives to verify vehicle serviceability and proper repairs Ensuring compliance with New York State vehicle inspection requirements, including engine, safety, and emissions standards Maintaining accurate and detailed service and repair records Staying current on automotive technology by participating in training, educational opportunities, and reviewing technical publications Basic computer skills Supporting the overall service department and dealership goals as needed Qualifications & Skills NYS Inspector’s License – Required Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage time effectively High level of dependability, persistence, and attention to detail Commitment to safety management and compliance standards Physical ability to lift and perform hands-on mechanical work Strong attendance and reliability record Comfortable working in a flat-rate, performance-based environment Detail orientated and thorough, organized Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills ASE certification a plus Why Work at Bob Johnson Chevrolet?
