The Opportunity:
As the Benefits Navigator within Student Affairs, you will serve as the single point of contact for students to receive support to access public and institutional resources such as public benefits (Working Connections Childcare, Basic Food or SNAP), emergency assistance grants, housing supports, food pantry items, etc. You will assist all students with providing intake, referrals, and support in accessing resources at the university and/or with other community partners. In this role, you will work to enhance collaborations with community partners and increase resources for institutions to support students with low incomes.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$3,750.85 - $4,200.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidateâs current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Masterâs degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearâforâyear basis.
Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.Â
Demonstrated experience with modern office technologies, such as the Microsoft Office Suite.Â
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Attention to detail, organized, and able to meet deadlines.Â
Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment, including the ability to work independently.Â
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
Experience or knowledge of advising/counseling students.Â
Experience or knowledge of coordinating services related to meeting the fundamental needs of students through private basic needs/social programs.Â
Experience analyzing, evaluating, using professional judgment and/or applying a comprehensive depth of knowledge to support students in a higher education setting or equivalent.Â
One or more years of experience advising/counseling students in a higher education setting or equivalent.Â
Familiarity with Washington State University policies and procedures.
