Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the Custodian 2 for Student Services, you perform custodial and maintenance tasks under general supervision to maintain the cleanliness and care of facilities within residence halls, apartments, and dining areas. You are willing and able to complete duties associated with commercial cleaning and minor maintenance while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including operating industrial cleaning equipment and power tools such as high-speed buffers, burnishers, shampooers, vacuum cleaners, and hand drills. You clean restrooms, classrooms, residence halls, offices, and similar facilities, and perform minor maintenance tasks such as caulking, replacing toilet seats and lavatory handles, conducting minor furniture repairs, and replacing outlet covers. You are able to move heavy items such as tables, furniture, cleaning equipment, and supplies, and you have the ability to bend, stoop, lift, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, stand and walk continuously throughout your shift, and climb and stand on ladders. You may also supervise lower-level staff.
 
Position may work any of the following hours, dependent upon the departmental needs: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, 7:30 to 4:00 pm, 8 am to 4:30 pm, unscheduled work week, early mornings, swing, late evening, and weekend shifts.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,262 to $4,320 | Range 36 Steps A - M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • The ability to do required work, the ability to read and write AND six months experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
