The Opportunity:

The Director of Marketing for Online Program Management (OPM) Services is the strategic leader responsible for designing, launching, and managing a comprehensive suite of OPM marketing services that support the growth of Washington State University (WSU) Global Campus online degree and certificate programs. This role builds the marketing infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to attract, convert, and retain online learners at scale.


The Director oversees brand strategy, digital marketing, enrollment marketing, market research, and performance analytics for Global Campus OPM services, ensuring alignment with WSU’s mission, academic priorities, and revenue‑growth goals. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for the Global Campus and collaborates closely with academic units, enrollment management, and central marketing.

This is a remote position with the successful candidate performing all work at an alternative location.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent, remote position. This position is overtime exempt.


Monthly Salary:

$6,733.54 - $8,632.73 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or other relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in public relations, marketing, print or broadcast media, or public relations, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

  • Brand Management: Experience with or ability to develop, maintain, and enhance brand identity and reputation.

  • Cultural Competency: Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students.

  • Bandwidth: Minimum bandwidth of 4.0Mbps for upload and download required for telework or hybrid work assignment.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive lead generation, enrollment, customer acquisition, or other measurable outcomes.

  • Experience managing digital marketing channels, including paid search, social media, email marketing, CRM-based campaigns, and web content strategy.

  • Experience using marketing analytics and data to assess campaign performance and inform decision-making.

  • Experience managing external vendors, agencies, or strategic marketing partners.

  • Demonstrated project management experience, including managing multiple priorities, budgets, and timelines.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Digital Marketing: Demonstrated experience in developing strategies for digital marketing related to higher education for online and/or adult learners.

  • Performance Metrics: Establishing or analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.

  • Experience in higher education enrollment marketing, particularly for online degree and certificate programs.

  • Demonstrated success developing and executing lead generation and enrollment growth strategies.

  • Experience working with Online Program Management (OPM) organizations or leading OPM-related functions within a university.

  • Knowledge of student recruitment funnels, CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce), and marketing automation platforms.

  • Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and program launch planning.
