Job Title: Quality Technician
Location: Johnstown, PA

Martin‑Baker America's Quality Technician works directly with the Quality Engineering and Inspection teams to perform investigative, auditing, and data‑collection activities for both in‑house and supplier‑provided products. This role supports inspection processes, verifies results, assists in resolving quality issues, and manages key supplier‑related quality functions. The Quality Technician also prepares and publishes quality metrics and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

In this role, you perform investigative and data‑collection duties to support Engineering Change Proposals, Quality Notifications, and product verification activities. You conduct audits of inspection methods and manufacturing processes, perform Gage R&R, stability, and capability studies, and assist the Material Review Board (MRB) with results verification and discrepancy resolution.

You work closely with inspection personnel to support inspection techniques, equipment usage, and issue resolution. You assist in creating, updating, and validating CMM programs and help suppliers resolve documentation and inspection‑related problems. You manage key supplier quality functions, including the supplier reapproval process and supplier documentation oversight, in coordination with Supplier Quality Engineers, Purchasing, Finance, and Inspection groups.

Your responsibilities also include completing in‑house AS9102 First Article forms, reviewing supplier First Article submissions, and validating inspection results when discrepancies occur between Quality Engineering, Inspection, or suppliers. You gather, analyze, and publish quality metrics-such as supplier scorecards and internal quality data-with input from the Quality Engineering team. Throughout all duties, you adhere to company procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.

 

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 10 years of inspection or related experience.
• An engineering degree may substitute for up to 3 years of required experience.

Preferred but not required:
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
• ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)

Desired Skills

• Proficient with specialized inspection equipment, including CMM programming and operation, optical comparators, hardness testers, profilometers, and related tools.
• Skilled in using standard precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and dial indicators.
• Strong understanding of common manufacturing processes, including machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
• Competent with basic computer applications and digital documentation tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear report preparation and timely responses to engineering and management requests.
• Ability to work independently, manage daily workload efficiently, and maintain strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration with peers, supervisors, and cross‑functional partners.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and lead activities in areas of expertise.
• Willingness to work toward ASQ CQT certification if not currently held.
