Proposed Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm to include a Saturday morning rotation.

Position Summary

This position is a hybrid between a Medical Assistant and Patient Services Assistant in which you will have direct patient care contact and perform a variety of administrative duties. This position provides care to patients under the direction of the responsible Registered Nurse and Provider with a team approach to patient care. Provides age appropriate population specific patient care in a compassionate, caring, culturally and ethnically sensitive manner, by instituting practices that promote the organizations mission, vision and core values. Acts as a key member of the health care team ensuring that patients, providers and other team members receive prompt and professional service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be flexible as the role varies from day to day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Abide by HIPAA and PHI standards
  • Provides high quality patient care and customer service in both urgent care and primary care settings as needed; contributes to teamwork of the staff and Network while presenting a positive view and patient-minded vision, with patient satisfaction as the continuing goal
  • Is responsible for adherence to standards, policies and procedures for diagnostic and point of care testing, including specimen collection, quality assurance, documentation in the electronic medical record and patient education
  • Stays current on relevant standards, policies and procedures, infection control requirements specific to role and cleans, disinfects and sterilizes medical equipment according to set standards
  • Maintains annual competencies and required continuing education, if applicable
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned; attends meetings and trainings as assigned. Assists with training of staff as needed
  • Performs all procedures in opening and closing departments in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Provides highest level of customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers
  • Ensures timely response to inquiries from insurance companies and/or circulates to appropriate personnel

Qualifications: 

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the essential functions:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully achieve the Network Medical Assistant Certification within 90-days of signing the job description
  • Experience with medical terminology and/ or a medical office setting preferred
  • 1-year health care experience; prior experience in ambulatory care preferred
  • Current BLS certification required or willing to obtain prior to orientation
  • Demonstrated computer competencies including electronic medical record and/or practice management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required
  • Must be self-directed, detail oriented, motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills required

The pay rate for this position is $20.81/hour.
