Who we are looking for

In this role as Vice President – Alternatives and Bank Loans Accounting Workstream Lead, you will work with State Street teams from around the globe to support the transformation for a key State Street’s middle office clients. You will have leadership and strategy responsibility to oversee and deliver all day-to-day responsibilities of your teams in a fast-paced, flexible and exciting environment. The role will need to initiate and develop good communication and interpersonal relationships with operations, technology and client relationship teams and IT to ensure any change initiatives maintain the high level of service that is currently being provided to these clients.

Why this role is important to us

This is a transformation role with significant change the bank responsibility within Middle Office Services. Alternatives and Bank Loans are complex, high-touch segments that require dedicated leadership due to specialized accounting, transaction processing, settlement, lifecycle event, and data requirements.

This VP will play a critical role in defining the future-state operating model, validating in-scope services, identifying standard versus non-standard requirements, and ensuring the Accounting workstream is positioned for successful migration, testing, and long-term operational sustainability.

What you will be responsible for

The role will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Lead the Alternatives and Bank Loans Accounting workstream through current-state assessment, target-state design, business requirements, solution documentation, testing strategy, migration planning, and operational readiness.
  • Own delivery of workstream objectives, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and action items in coordination with Program Delivery, workstream project managers, business analysts, and technology partners.
  • Serve as a senior product and operations lead for Alternatives and Bank Loans accounting processes, lifecycle events, settlement directives, cash activity, position and cash reconciliations, P&L, accounting feeds, and downstream operational outputs.
  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of current-state process documentation, data flows, pain points, system dependencies, manual touchpoints, and control gaps.
  • Partner with Product and Technology teams to assess fit to State Street standard capabilities and support definition of target-state architecture, interim-state solutions, non-standard process requirements, and business requirements documentation.
  • Provide workstream sign-off for deliverables including target-state architecture inputs, detailed solution documents, business requirements, non-standard solution design, testing strategy, implementation plans, and operating model documentation.
  • Coordinate with Bank Loans, Alternatives, Transaction Management, Investment Accounting, Reconciliation, Cash, Data, Account Services, and Technology workstreams to identify design dependencies and integration points.
  • Lead engagement with subject matter experts and operational teams to confirm service scope, process ownership, control requirements, data requirements, and operational impacts.
  • Act as a primary escalation point for workstream risks, blockers, unresolved decisions, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Ensure workstream reporting accurately reflects status, risks, issues, milestones, decisions, and delivery health before program governance reviews.
  • Support migration strategy by helping define tranche sequencing, readiness criteria, testing approach, cutover considerations, hypercare requirements, and business-as-usual transition plans.
  • Drive issue resolution across internal teams and client-facing forums by translating complex operational and accounting topics into clear actions and decisions.
  • Promote process standardization, automation, risk reduction, and control strengthening across Bank Loans and Alternatives accounting activities.
  • Partner with global operations teams to ensure future-state processes are practical, resilient, scalable, and aligned to client service expectations.
  • Develop and deliver training, knowledge transfer, and operational readiness materials to support adoption of new processes, platforms, and controls.
  • Maintain a strong focus on client experience, service continuity, regulatory discipline, and operational risk management throughout the migration lifecycle.

  • Strong demonstrable experience with change management programs in sponsorship, leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to execute under challenging circumstances and deliver targeted outcomes.
  • Ability to navigate a large, global organization. Build meaningful relationships and develop an effective network.
  • Work successfully in a matrixed environment. Effectively manage multiple stakeholders, determine highest priorities for the organization, identify and resolve contention between directives.
  • Proven leadership skills as well as managing and developing a high performing operation team.
  • Excellent time management, presentation skills and communication to multiple levels (clients, other 3rd parties, executives, peers, subordinates). Flexibility across multiple communication formats
  • Proven track record of achieving/exceeding financial goals through expense discipline and headcount management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and influence colleagues and virtual team members. 
  • Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to connect with colleagues globally in a collaborative, open work environment. To serve as a role model of acceptance and flexibility in dealing with colleagues with varying backgrounds.

Education & Preferred qualifications

  • 15 years + experience in financial services presently in a leadership role, having managed large scale transformation roles.
  • Deep understanding of the Corporate Investment Banking landscape, with experience leading transformation initiatives within Financial Services
  • A proven track record at a senior level in client facing role such as business and IT relationship management, account management, delivery executive, or related disciplines with Excom Level
  • Strong Stakeholder and Relationship Management skills
  • In-depth understanding of the linkage between information technology and business value
  • Operations experience program managing large scale initiatives and implementations
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to effectively partner with Operations and Transformation leads, technology partners and senior management
  • Creative and analytical ability in problem resolution and troubleshooting
  • Collaborative leadership and work style

Salary Range:

$115,000 - $201,250 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
