Description

The cattle truck driver position is a person who ensures that cattle are loaded, transported and

delivered to Beef Northwest Feeders feedyards and outside sale locations in a safe and consistent

manner. The driver is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the livestock during transport

and is committed to maintaining BNW's high standards of animal care and regulatory compliance.

Reports To: Feedyard Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

  •  Drive cattle truck and trailer
  •  Load, transport and unload cattle safely and humanely
  • Maintain communication with cattle supervisor and feedyard manager
  • Fill out and complete the daily checklist on truck
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections
  • Maintain Beef Northwest Feeders safety standards
  • Adhere to BNW's animal handling protocols and HACCP standards
  • Clean up spills and debris at loading sites, on the highway and at the feedyard
  • Ability to put chains on in inclement weather
  • Perform maintenance on cattle trucks and trailers

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have good time management skills
  • Must have a valid CDL and health card
  • Must be able to operate semi-truck and trailer safely and efficiently
  • Must have knowledge of or willingness to learn animal handling best practices
  • Must be able to problem solve

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs to chest height and 50 lbs overhead
