Overview: Provides and coordinates nursing services and daily unit operations to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality resident care. Performs comprehensive nursing assessments, administers prescribed medications, and assists physicians in treatment and follow-up care. Monitors residents’ medical and psychiatric conditions, provides education and crisis intervention, and maintains detailed documentation in compliance with agency standards. Under the supervision of the Residential Program Manager and clinical guidance of the Lead Nurse, oversees shift operations, supervises Mental Health Assistants (MHAs), and ensures staffing, safety, and documentation standards are consistently met.   ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES     Provides direct comprehensive nursing care, upon admission and ongoing, in accordance with established medical and psychiatric protocols to ensure quality patient outcomes and unit safety and completes documentation in accordance with agency policy/program procedures and treatment plans. Receives, documents, and implements Admission, Standing/Routine and ad hoc physician orders in accordance with Residential Procedures. Completes resident MARs in accordance with unit procedures. Administers medications and documents according to unit procedures. Ensures compliance with all medication storage, disposal, and narcotic control policies. Provides patient education and crisis intervention, promoting health and wellness through instruction on medications, medical conditions, and prevention topics outlined in treatment plans. Provides direct supervision for assigned MHAs on the shift, ensuring effective coordination of staff, activities, and documentation. Oversees MHA-led duties such as group facilitation, resident engagement, resident care and orientation, vital signs, drug screenings, meals/pharmacy rotation, and facility cleanliness, safety, and security. Organizes shift operations to maximize efficiency and maintain adequate resident supervision at all times. Oversees assigned staff’s time and attendance in accordance with Agency policy. Ensures accurate and timely completion of timesheets.   Qualifications Official transcripts from approved vocational or technical school. Minimum of one (1) year of LPN experience preferred. Previous psychiatric and/or substance abuse experience preferred.   Licensure or Certification: Licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464. Must obtain and maintain current CPR, First Aid, and CPI certifications.
