Safety Supervisor

Job Summary

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting day-to-day safety operations and advancing safety performance at the Quincy facility while providing supplemental support to Walker manufacturing operations. This role focuses on frontline safety engagement, compliance, auditing, and safety analytics execution under the direction of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.

This position is designed as a developmental leadership role, with the expectation of progression to a Safety Manager-level position within approximately three years through demonstrated leadership, analytical capability, and impact on safety culture and performance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Safety Operations & Floor Engagement

• Support daily safety activities within the Quincy facility, ensuring safe work practices are consistently followed.

• Conduct routine safety observations, audits, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and unsafe behaviors.

• Partner with supervisors and production teams to reinforce safety expectations and drive accountability.

• Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and positive reinforcement.

• Monitor and manage employee safety concerns through behavior-based safety observations and listening sessions.

• Manage the implementation of safety-related initiatives, including ergonomic assessments and safety suggestion programs.

Compliance & Program Execution

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of safety programs, policies, and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable state, local, and company safety regulations.

• • Support training efforts by coordinating and delivering safety training, including PPE, LOTO, and other required programs.

  • Maintain safety documentation, records, and reporting tools.

   

  Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in and lead incident investigations, including near misses, injuries, and property damage events.

  • Assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely closure.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk and improve overall safety performance.

   

  Safety Analytics & Reporting

  • Support the development and maintenance of safety metrics, dashboards, and reporting.

  • Analyze trends in incidents, observations, and audit data to identify risk patterns. 

  • Provide actionable insights to the EHS Manager and leadership team to support decision-making.

   

  Cross-Facility Support (Walker)

  • Provide support to Walker manufacturing operations as needed, including audits, training, and incident follow-up.

  • Ensure consistency in safety standards, expectations, and reporting across both facilities.

   

  Leadership Development

  • Develop leadership capability through ownership of safety initiatives and projects.

  • Build the skills necessary to lead safety programs independently in the future.

  • Demonstrate readiness for advancement through measurable impact on safety culture, engagement, and performance.

   

  Additional Responsibilities

  • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite for the duration of scheduled shifts, including potential off-shift support.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Environmental Health & Safety Manager or leadership team.

   

  Qualifications

  Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing safety role, with supervisory or leadership responsibilities preferred.

  • Experience with safety audits, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance in an industrial environment.

  Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety standards.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to conduct training, perform risk assessments, and lead investigations.

  • Ability to engage effectively with hourly workforce and leadership teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret safety data and trends.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety tracking/reporting systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across facilities.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

  Certifications or Licenses

  • OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification required (or must be obtained within 6 months).

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

   

  Working Conditions 

  This position operates in both an office and a manufacturing environment. Time is regularly split between a professional office setting and the production floor. While in the office, the role involves the use of standard office equipment and requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and phone communication.

  While in the manufacturing environment, the role involves exposure to loud noise, machinery, varying temperatures, dust, and other airborne particles. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required. The position may require standing, walking, bending, climbing, or kneeling to perform safety inspections and interact with production teams.

  This hybrid environment requires flexibility and the ability to transition between administrative tasks and hands-on fieldwork.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to operate office equipment

  • Must be able to conduct physical inspections of equipment, confined spaces, and elevated areas

  • Work Schedule:

  • The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with occasional evening or weekend work as needed to meet deadlines or attend events. Work schedules may vary based on position/department.

  • Travel: up to 20%
