The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules for construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers and field teams, this role ensures timelines, resources, and milestones are accurately planned and tracked to support successful project execution. This position also manages scheduling software and tools, prepares reports for stakeholders, and performs impact assessments for project changes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Scheduling & Planning:

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed construction schedules for projects in collaboration with Project Managers and field leadership
  • Review contract documents to ensure labor, materials, subcontractor activities, and other cost elements are captured in the schedule
  • Create work breakdown structures and identify project relationships, milestones, and constraints
  • Utilize scheduling tools to build and analyze project timelines
  • Perform impact analysis of change orders and assess potential schedule delays or acceleration opportunities

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Coordinate with internal teams and customers to establish direct budgets and align project timelines with performance goals
  • Present schedule updates, reports, and analysis to project stakeholders and senior management
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all project-related documents

Technical Tools & Software Management:

  • Maintain required scheduling software and licenses
  • Stay informed of new tools that may improve scheduling effectiveness
  • Continuously seek ways to enhance project planning through updated technology and software integration

Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination

  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task. 
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention. 
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents. 
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Business-related field
  • Previous experience as a Construction Scheduler
  • Ability to read construction documents
  • Knowledge of electrical utility construction preferred

Experience, Skill and Abilities

  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity - both are non-negotiable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams)
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, customers, vendors, and others
  • Comfortable with taking initiative to seek out information from project stakeholders and customer to ensure accurate representation of the schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized person able to manage priorities with awareness of deadlines and expectations
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and customer requirements and to assist team members

Physical Requirements 

  • Office environment requiring sitting and standing. Travel to various work sites is essential, exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise and the need to stand and walk.
