Job DetailsJob Location: Radford Health & Rehab Center - RADFORD, VA 24141Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeJob Shift: DayThe licensed Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the clinical support of licensed nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants, and other ancillary non-licensed clinical employees who provide direct and in-direct nursing care to patients. The nurse supervisor will provide or coordinate disease specific-educational support for patients/family members and assist with in-service training for clinical employees. The nurse Supervisor will be clinically proficient in nursing related skills and will have a current CPR card issued through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Administrative: 1. Serves as liaison between the clinical team, physician/physician extenders, diagnostic agencies and sources of referrals for new patients. 2. Advocates on behalf of the clinical team by supporting and promoting a team environment. 3. Supports and participates in the center’s Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Program. 4. Participates on committees as needed or assigned. 5. Reports pertinent clinical personnel issues and patient-care areas of concern to the Director of Nursing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Clinical 1. Supervises and directs licensed and non-licensed nursing employees. 2. Promote and maintains an effective working relationship with physicians/physician extenders, lab, and pharmacy partners to ensure the proper, timely, and safe care of patients. 3. Promotes and maintains an effective collaborative working relationship with nursing employees, other departments, patients, families, visitors, and other health care centers. 4. Directs and supervises the delivery of patient care. 5. When indicated, the nurse supervisor will perform patient assessment, plan, and implement appropriate nursing care and management for the well-being of a patient, in terms of meeting the individuals physical, mental, and emotional needs including documentation of supporting interventions and follow-up. 6. Reports any significant change in a patient’s condition to other clinical team members to including but not limited to the physician/physician extender, patient and legal representative. Completes required documentation. 7. Routinely conduct chart audits to validate that nursing care documentation is appropriate, accurate, and timely. 8. Keeps nursing administration and management informed regarding evaluations of patient care and employee practice/behavioral concerns. 9. Participate in clinical rounds with medical providers when indicated to provide pertinent information regarding the patient’s care/condition and will follow through with the physician/physician extender orders. 10. Reviews physician/physician extender orders, diagnostic and pharmacy reports. Follows up with pharmacy regarding a change in medication. 11. Address complaints and follow-up in a timely manner. Keeps nursing administration informed of complaint/follow-up outcomes. 12. Completes accident/incident report(s) as indicated with follow-up. Submit accident/incident report to administrative nursing staff. 13. Performs and/or assists with patient care tasks as indicated, for example (phlebotomy, initiate IV therapy, manage central lines, perform wound care management, administer medications, insert indwelling urinary catheter, perform tracheostomy/colostomy/ileostomy care, manage enteral therapy for patient with feeding tubes and other nursing procedures). 14. Assists in the development of the patient’s plan of care and assists updating the plan of care as indicated. 15. Participates in the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. 16. Provides report for new patient admissions, as indicated, while ensuring that rooms are ready and prepared to receive a new patient admission prior to the patient arriving, as indicated. 17. Performs other duties, as assigned. Performs other duties, as assigned.   Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Current nursing license in good standing with the Virginia Department of Health Professions. 2. Two years of nursing management in acute/post-acute or urgent care, preferred. 3. Demonstrates excellent clinical, customer service and leadership skills. 4. Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Prolonged periods standing, walking, working and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.  Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.  Must be able to move 150 pounds with assistance.
