Job Description
RCH Solutions is seeking a Full Stack Engineer with a strong data visualization focus who will be instrumental in the continued investment in discovery research. We are currently seeking an outstanding engineer with modern full-stack TypeScript development skills and proven experience turning complex scientific and analytical data into clear, performant, interactive interfaces. Using a broad range of front-end engineering, visualization, and cloud data methods, the successful individual will continue to evolve growing initiatives for data exploration, visualization, and self-service analytics to enable the scientific community.

The successful candidate will partner closely with data scientists, product stakeholders, and platform engineers to translate analytical requirements into production-quality applications. This is a hands-on build role: expertise in Next.js and React, thoughtful UI and product design instincts, and comfort working directly against cloud data warehouses are highly desired.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack TypeScript applications using Next.js, React, and MUI
  • Develop rich, interactive data visualizations with D3.js, from exploratory prototypes through to production components
  • Work directly with data scientists to scope, refine, and deliver tailored visualization requirements
  • Query, model, and surface data from GCP services, primarily BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS)
  • Contribute to and extend the TEP design system, ensuring visual and interaction consistency across applications
  • Write and maintain unit tests and browser-based end-to-end tests using Playwright
  • Ship features through the existing Docker / Cloud Run deployment pipeline
  • Apply AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, etc.) within the established AI coding guardrails to accelerate delivery without compromising code quality
  • Participate in code review, technical design discussions, and iterative product refinement
  • Balance product and engineering concerns, contributing UI/UX input rather than waiting on fully specified designs
Essential Requirements
  • Professional full-stack development in TypeScript across both client and server
  • Production experience with Next.js and React
  • Hands-on experience building custom data visualizations with D3.js (charting-library-only experience is not sufficient)
  • Component development with MUI or a comparable component library
  • Working familiarity with GCP, specifically BigQuery and GCS
  • Comfort operating within an existing Docker and Cloud Run deployment pipeline
  • Automated testing with Playwright, covering both unit tests and browser E2E tests
  • Product and UI design capability: able to work from, and contribute to, an established design system
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with data scientists on analytical and visualization requirements
  • Practical experience using AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) in a professional setting
  • Ability to work independently in a distributed team on a UK or US East Coast schedule
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–7 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, including asynchronous patterns and typed API contracts
  • Proficiency with modern front-end tooling, Git, and CI/CD workflows
  • SQL proficiency sufficient to write and optimize analytical queries
  • Collaborator across a diverse set of groups, including non-technical scientific stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Multitasking: balancing a diverse set of projects and deadlines
  • Curiosity and excitement about technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience visualizing complex biological, chemical, or other scientific data sets
  • Experience with large-scale or streaming data rendering performance (canvas/WebGL, virtualization, aggregation strategies)
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a shared design system
  • Familiarity with BigQuery cost and access-pattern optimization
  • Exposure to accessibility standards in data-dense interfaces
  • Track record of success contributing to and advancing discovery programs
Additional Information
Great talent should benefit from a great work environment. If you join our team, you’ll have access to:
  • A competitive salary and bonus package based on experience
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Company-provided Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Company-sponsored 401(k) Plan
  • Company-provided continuing education benefit
  • Team-focused culture and unlimited opportunity for advancement
** NOTE: This role is 100% remote and the candidate must be able to work on an East Coast US schedule.
** Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future.
