Why this role exists
Every move we run lives or dies on the person leading the truck. We're looking for a Moving Foreman who can walk into a customer's home, take command of the job, protect their belongings like they're your own, and leave the customer telling their neighbors to call us. This is the most important field role in the company — you set the tone, the pace, and the standard for the whole crew.
About us
Expedite Moving is a professional residential and commercial moving company based in Rahway, NJ, serving customers across the state and beyond. We do the full spectrum of moves — apartments, houses, offices, and the tricky stuff most companies won't touch: baby grand pianos, gun safes, sheds, and high-value electronics. Our reputation is built on showing up on time, treating people's homes with respect, and getting the hard jobs done right the first time.
What success looks like
Six months in, you're the foreman customers ask for by name. Your crews run on schedule, your damage claims are near zero, your trucks are loaded tight and safe, and your paperwork is clean. Newer movers on your team have learned how to pad, wrap, and carry the right way because you showed them. When a job gets complicated — a piano down a narrow staircase, a safe on a dolly over gravel — the office knows it's handled because you're on it.
What you'll do
- Lead the crew on site — direct a team of 2–4 movers on each job: assign roles, set the pace, keep everyone safe, and make the call when a plan needs to change.
- Own the customer relationship on the job — greet the customer, walk the job, set expectations, answer questions calmly, and handle concerns before they become complaints.
- Do the skilled work — dismount and remount wall-mounted TVs, disassemble and reassemble furniture, and safely move specialty items including baby grand and upright pianos, safes, sheds, appliances, and fragile/high-value pieces.
- Protect the goods and the home — pad, shrink-wrap, and box items properly; use floor runners, door jamb protectors, and straps; load and secure the truck so nothing shifts in transit.
- Run the paperwork — complete bills of lading, inventory sheets, condition reports, and payment collection accurately and completely.
- Coach and set the standard — train newer movers on proper technique, and model the professionalism and hustle you expect from the crew.
- Keep equipment ready — make sure the truck, dollies, straps, and pads are stocked, clean, and in good working order before and after each job.
