Description

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for safety, quality, and production in the Park Furniture Department of Lumber Products. Supervise and train the assigned inmate workers in the safe and efficient use of machinery, equipment, and tools in the Department to meet the industry’s sales, net income, and mission goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Conduct a daily security & safety walk through of the Park Furniture Department and the surrounding area.
  2. Transport inmate workers from and to the workcamp as required.
  3. Maintains Tool Control procedures in accordance with FDC policy and ensures completion of all required tool logs for the Department.
  4. Conduct and collect Industry inmate worker counts at the required interval and report the count to the UCI Work Camp Control Room.
  5. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and tools in the Department and ensures inmate workers are trained and signed off in their training jackets accordingly.
  6. Cross train the inmate workforce to ensure uninterrupted production.
  7. Complete the daily production schedule for the Departments as directed by management and enters material consumption into D365 accurately on a daily basis.
  8. Inspect raw materials, sub-assemblies and finished goods to meet quality standards and customer specifications. 
  9. Interacts in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner with FDC, PRIDE staff, customers, and vendors on all business needs.
  10. Maintains inventory accuracy and conduct cycle- and periodic counts.
  11. Adheres to company policy and follows direction from Industry Management.
  12. Applies a Continuous Improvement Mindset and participates in Company Kaizen Events as needed.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Highschool diploma. Prefer three (3) years of experience in lumber manufacturing. Prefer two years supervisory experience.


  • Language Skills: Good verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.


  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills.


  • Reasoning Ability: Reading comprehension. 


  • Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill: 
  • Proficient in using production equipment and tools.
  • Forklift certified.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. (Dynamics 365).
  • Self-starter.
  • Understand quality control.
  • Safety management with documentation.
  • Ability to foster teamwork.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Handle stress and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in reading product plans and interpreting product specifications.
  • (CPI) Continuous Process Improvement


  • Other Skills and Abilities: Strong people and leadership skills; self motivated with effective time management abilities. Must be honest, dependable, straightforward, adaptable, pleasant, and able to work collaboratively as a team player.


  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee will be on their feet and moving around supervising.


  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud – the dust level is moderate.
