Position Overview:

The VP Computer Operations is responsible for overseeing enterprise computer operations through a team of shift managers who manage 24x7 staff supporting batch processing and monitoring functions. This ole provides leadership, establishes operational direction, and ensures that daily activities align with performance expectations, service levels, and compliance requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • (25%) Leadership & Supervisor Oversight: Lead and develop shift managers, ensuring effective team coordination, staff scheduling, and consistent execution of operational duties.
  • (20%) Batch Job Execution & Monitoring Oversight: Ensure the successful scheduling, monitoring, and completion of enterprise batch workloads across multiple platforms via established standards.
  • (15%) Incident & Escalation Management: Oversee incident response processes, ensuring timely escalation, resolution tracking, and communication with engineering and applications teams.
  • (15%) Operational Procedures & Documentation: Maintain and enforce runbooks, escalation protocols, and operational standards to support audit readiness and consistency across shifts.
  • (15%) Cross-Team Collaboration: Service as the primary liaison with application, infrastructure, and support teams to coordinate change windows, system readiness, and production support.
  • (10%) Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency: Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, reducing operational errors, and streamlining workflows.

Required Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in IT operations, enterprise batch scheduling tools, console monitoring, and system alerting tools.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or leading systems administration teams)
  • Experience working in a 24x7 environment with rotating shifts and high operational availability requirements.

Preferred Education & Experience (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in in IT operations, enterprise batch scheduling tools, console monitoring, and system alerting tools.
  • Expert knowledge with process automation and mainframe systems environments.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., financial services or healthcare)

Job Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates must reside in North Carolina, this position is primarily on-site in Raleigh, NC
  • This position typically operates in a professional office environment or hybrid/ remote setup
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via collaboration tools.
