About Us

The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction, purchasing and contracting for goods and services, maintaining facilities, managing state vehicles, acquiring and disposing of real property, and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally, the department manages many of the state's advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the state's population that have been traditionally underserved.

The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for an Administrative Associate II, working title: Administrative Services Representative, for our State Surplus Property division. This division offers surplus property received from state agencies and the University System to other state agencies in need, and/ or sells to qualifying non-profit organizations and the public. This position serves as an Administrative Services Representative at the front desk/counter of the Division of State Surplus Property.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure work is being performed correctly, timely, and is adhering to all applicable policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Interpret and implement established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws for the disposition of surplus property statewide. 
  • Excellent customer service is a priority. This position has extensive public contact with program clientele, employees, other departments, and the citizens of NC. 
  • Provide services at the front desk by receiving payments, notarizing vehicle titles, ordering duplicate titles, processing default fees, and assisting customers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Salary Grade: NC02, Recruitment Salary Range: $31,200-$37,822.00

  • Documented history of providing customer service including resolving customer issues positively while following up on customer service issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office use as well as other office systems, tools, and equipment including use of a cash register and credit card machines.
  • Retail or other experience in cash handling and receiving and recording payments.
  • Documented experience of work-related attention to detail including the ability to maintain accurate clerical records, online and on paper, and to write legibly.
  • Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practices.

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE:

  • Management prefers applicants with vehicle title experience
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, organizational, and mathematical skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, and adaptable to sudden change in work assignments.
  • Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions, or compliance with applicable laws, rules, or regulations.
  • Ability to record, compile, summarize, and perform basic analysis of data.
  • Work functions must be performed accurately 100% of the time, as inaccuracies reflect upon the capability and integrity of the operation.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Notary public certification or ability to become a notary public within 6 months of employment.

Minimum Education and Experience
