Commercial Flooring Sales Executive
Position Overview
The Commercial Flooring Sales Executive is a new-business development role focused on expanding Storr's presence within the commercial flooring market. We are looking for a driven sales hunter who enjoys opening doors, developing relationships, and turning early-stage opportunities into profitable projects.
The ideal candidate brings established connections within the architecture and design community and understands how to influence flooring decisions early in the project cycle. This individual will build relationships with architects, interior designers, contractors, developers, and end users while developing a strong pipeline of new business within an assigned territory or market segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and pursue new commercial flooring opportunities through cold outreach, networking, referrals, industry events, and market research.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with architecture and design firms, commercial designers, general contractors, developers, and other project influencers.
- Position Storr as a trusted flooring resource within the A&D community.
- Work with architects and designers during the planning and specification phases to identify product needs and influence flooring selections.
- Develop strategic plans for target accounts and consistently move prospects through the sales pipeline.
- Conduct discovery meetings to understand each customer's business objectives, design requirements, budget, timeline, and decision-making process.
- Present flooring products and service solutions that address the customer's functional, aesthetic, and financial needs.
- Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, estimates, and contract documentation.
- Negotiate effectively and close profitable business while protecting the customer experience.
- Meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and new-business goals established with the Vice President of Sales.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of prospecting activity, contacts, opportunities, and forecasts.
- Collaborate with project management, design, operations, installation, and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Build credibility with the broader Storr sales organization and develop cross-selling and referral opportunities.
- Stay informed about market activity, upcoming projects, competitive products, and commercial design trends.
- Remain flexible to attend customer meetings, networking events, and industry functions outside regular business hours when needed.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of successful business-to-business sales or business development experience.
- Commercial flooring, architectural products, contract furniture, commercial interiors, construction, or related industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Established relationships with architects, interior designers, or A&D firms are highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new accounts through consistent prospecting and relationship building.
- Proven success managing a sales territory, building a qualified pipeline, and closing profitable business.
- Knowledge of consultative selling, account targeting, influencing, negotiation, and closing strategies.
- Comfortable presenting to architects, designers, executives, contractors, and other key decision-makers.
- Familiarity with specifications, proposals, contracts, project timelines, and design or construction processes is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and follow-through skills.
- Comfortable using technology and sales-management systems to track activity and opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to travel locally approximately 25%–50% of the time.
