The Opportunity

In this role, you will support the development of control solutions for Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) and High Voltage DC (HVDC) projects within Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration business. You will help develop interface and communication hardware and software solutions used in installations, while contributing to drawings, site layouts, PC and network configuration, design reviews, documentation, factory acceptance testing, and site commissioning. Your work will connect engineering development with field execution, helping projects move from design through delivery and startup. By supporting control development, communication networks, cybersecurity processes, and safe project execution, you will contribute to the reliability, safety, and performance of critical grid infrastructure while building hands-on experience in advanced power transmission applications.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Create drawings that support layouts and site designs.
  • Configure PCs from both an operating system and network perspective.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to project development activities.
  • Prepare detailed documentation to support created controls.
  • Take ownership of customer-related issues and drive them to completion with internal and external suppliers and team members.
  • Support factory acceptance testing, site construction, and commissioning activities for new projects.
  • Follow and implement cybersecurity processes and standards in projects, including support for cybersecurity services, reporting, and deliveries.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, preferably electrical or computer/control engineering.
  • Minimum of 0–3 years in one or a combination of the following disciplines: Field Service, Project Engineering, or Customer support.
  • Experience in development of software for user interface components and the networks they communicate over.
  • Knowledge of network design and implementation fundamentals, including TCPIP, domains, and segmentation, along with virtualization technology and OS management.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity approaches and tools, with the ability to apply sound thinking to address issues.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%
