About the Role:
As a Designer, you will be responsible for providing technical and hands-on support in creating design deliverables.Â
What You Will Be Doing:
- Perform detailed design for electrical substations, permitting support, site layout, grading design, retaining wall design, stormwater analysis, containment structure design, survey coordination, and civil construction supportÂ
- Conduct transmission right-of-way access improvement design including culvert sizing, stormwater drainage analysis, stabilization specification, construction support, and inspectionÂ
- Develop and modify design criteria utilizing industry standards and client specificationsÂ
- Coordinate design activities with other departments (Transmission, Distribution, Survey, etc.)Â
- Maintain a high level of quality and responsiveness in alignment with Pickett’s standardsÂ
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology (preferred)Â
- Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology (required)Â
- 5-7+ years of hands-on design experience (required)Â
- Experience and technical knowledge of design codes and software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation and stormwater analysis programs) (required)Â
- Ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industryÂ
- Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulationsÂ
- Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skillsÂ
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)Â
- Able to communicate technical matters in an understandable and efficient manner
- Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
