This position assists individuals with daily living activities, promotes independence, supports individual goals, and helps create a safe and supportive environment that enhances quality of life. The DSP serves as an advocate, role model, and caregiver while supporting participants in community integration and personal development. Essential Responsibilities Provide direct care and supervision to individuals served. Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping as needed. Support individuals in achieving personal goals and increasing independence. Promote community engagement and participation in recreational, educational, and social activities. Assist with transportation to appointments, community activities, and other approved destinations. Maintain accurate documentation and complete reports in a timely manner. Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral conditions. Follow all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Assist with medication administration as permitted by training and program requirements. Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment. Build positive and professional relationships with individuals, families, teammates, and community partners. Attend required training and staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or other vulnerable populations preferred. Human services experience is a plus but not required. Skills & Abilities Compassionate, patient, and dependable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Basic computer and documentation skills. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Licensure Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Reliable transportation. Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and training requirements. Working Conditions May require evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts based on program needs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and assisting individuals with daily activities. Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals using proper safety techniques.
