Description

The Engineering Technician I (Structural Detailer) position will involve assisting the lead Project Engineer in the development of structural drawings for substations and other miscellaneous structures in the electric utilities industry. Assignments will include creating detailed steel fabrication drawings, erection plans, foundation plan and detail drawings, and coordinating work with project team. Applicants should be detail oriented and be willing to learn structural steel and foundation detailing practices and all applicable AWS & AISC codes. Ideal candidate will enjoy a fast-paced learning environment, and/or possess some prior knowledge of structural detailing.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
  • Perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Production of steel fabrication drawings and erection plans.
  • Production of foundation plan and detail drawings.
  • Checking the accuracy of drawings produced by self and others.
  • Support and contribute to a company-wide safety culture by following established safety standards, policies, and best practices, helping to ensure a safe environment for employees, clients, and the public. 
  • Complete detailed drawings from sketches, plans, specifications, and written and verbal instructions using AutoCAD.
  • Perform duties in accordance with project budgets and company policies and procedures. 
  • Diligent record keeping.
  • Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must interface well with employees and customers at all levels.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of a High School diploma; may substitute advanced education for years of experience if applicable.
  • Two to five years of structural detailing experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil3D and/or MicroStation experience is a plus).
